After living and working in India for nearly two decades, Jaipur represents the first time Michael Aram has incorporated traditional Indian motifs into his art. Jaipur derives its inspiration from the British Colonial period, where local and traditional Indian architecture cross-pollinated with English interpretations of cut stonework and gracious, grand references.

The most fashionable tables in the early American Republic were set with blue and white Canton ware, so called for the great Chinese trading port from which it came. Chinese blue and white porcelain was in demand well into the 19th century and has been part of the heritage of many American families. Blue Canton from Mottahedeh faithfully recaptures this centuries-old tradition and style.
