Dhara is inspired by the side designs of a poetry manuscript from Saadi. It was painted by Mir-Imad in 1609. Each color is separated from each other by a thin black line just like they do with traditional rugs from India and Middle-East.

This classic design from Rosenthal now features a new series of graphics which follow the contours of each item, thus emphasizing its shape. The designs take on the theme of structure by playing with the contrast between matte and glossy surfaces. That is an idea that Walter Gropius himself pursued in his first design.
