This is evident on the metalwork and flatware pieces with engraved handles that were produced during that period in Toledo, Spain. This inspiration is picked up again in the plant-related theme of the design: leaves, vines and flowers interweave and form volutes, a characteristic ornamental motif of that period, created by spiraling scrolls and whorls.
